FOS Fall Series: "FOLLOW THE YELLOW BRICK ROAD BACK HOME”
Everyone loves the Wizard of Oz!  It is a story that has helped two generations of viewers form their sense of good and evil. It has made us keenly aware of mankind’s need to develop courage, love and wisdom.   It is a story of everyday life – a parable of the spiritual journey.

The most enduring symbol of the Wizard of Oz is that of the Yellow Brick Road.  Providing hope of our return home to God, the gold colored path of Oz is a metaphor of life’s adventure, inviting us to develop our hearts, minds and strength as we make our way back to Him.  However, while we dream of joining hands with Dorothy and her friends and struggle towards the Wizard - ours is a destination and a God more glorious than one can discover in Oz or Kansas.

The Bookstore is staffed by a dedicated group of volunteers, and offers the community a wide selection of religious books, bibles, prayer books, cookbooks, cultural, ethnic and history titles, books for children, as well as icons, sacred music recordings, crosses and other religious items.

We are open every Sunday during the coffee hour following the Divine Liturgy. We invite you to stop by and visit us. Meet our volunteers and browse through our offerings.

Outreach Sunday

On Sunday, May 10th, the Greek Orthodox Archdiocesan Cathedral of the Holy Trinity celebrated Outreach Sunday.  The inaugural event was organized by the Cathedral Committee on Inclusion Through Outreach and Education in coordination with the Archdiocesan Department of Outreach and Evangelism.

Outreach Sunday coincided with the celebration of Mother's Day and the Sunday of the Paralytic.  According to the Rev. Dr. Frank Marangos, Dean of the Archdiocesan Cathedral, "Outreach Sunday was organized to emphasize unity and inclusion of individuals who have a disability, suffer from depression, alcoholism or feel alienated from the church in the true spirit of Orthodox Christianity."  A brochure on Disability Etiquette was distributed during the televised liturgy that was also "signed" for the hearing impaired by Dr. Thomas Zangas, a licensed clinical psychologist for the deaf.

A reception was held in the Cathedral Center Ballroom following the Divine Liturgy where informational kiosks provided opportunities for attendees to speak with specialists on a wide variety of disability and health care topics.  Free literature was provided on issues pertaining to depression, physical disabilities, the elderly, aging, alcoholism, bereavement, Alzheimer's and diabetes.
